Challenges in WandelWeb

Ready to challenge yourself and earn medals? With the Challenges feature in WandelWeb you can pursue all kinds of walking goals and track your achievements. From daily steps to big milestones - something for everyone!

What are Challenges?

Challenges are walking goals you can complete to earn badges and medals. Each challenge has its own goal and reward.

While you walk, WandelWeb automatically tracks your progress and you see exactly how far you still need to go to reach your goal.

The best part: you do not need to enter anything manually! Just walk and the app does the rest.

Kinds of Challenges

Periodic Challenges

These are challenges that come back regularly. For example every week or every month you get a new chance to complete them.

Examples:

  • • Walk 50 kilometres this week
  • • Be active 5 days this month
  • • Do 3 weekend walks

Perfect to motivate yourself regularly!

Lifetime Challenges

These challenges are about your total walking achievements. Everything you have ever walked in WandelWeb counts.

Examples:

  • • Walk 1,000 kilometres in total
  • • Complete 100 walks
  • • Reach 10,000 metres of elevation

These stay active all the time and you always work on them!

Special Challenges

These are unique, often longer challenges with an extra fun twist. For these challenges you often get a calendar view.

Examples:

  • • Four-day challenge with daily goals
  • • 30-day walking challenge
  • • Special seasonal challenges

Streak Challenges

Walk several days in a row

Example: 7 days in a row - miss a day? Then you start again. Exciting!

Timed Challenges

Walk at specific times

Example: Walk 5 times between 6:00 and 8:00 - perfect motivation for morning walks!

Speed Challenges

Reach a certain speed

Example: Walk 5 km at at least 5.5 km/h - for the sporty walkers!

Social Challenges

Walk with others

Example: Do 3 group walks with at least 3 people - walking together is more fun!

Elevation Challenges

Climb a certain number of elevation metres

Example: Reach 500 metres of elevation - time for those hill routes!

One-off Achievements

Do something special in one walk

Example: Walk 20 km in one go - a nice challenge for a day out!

Tips for successful Challenges

1

Start small

Start with easier challenges to learn the system. The big challenges come naturally!

2

Periodic challenges first

These reset every week/month, so you get regular new chances. Perfect for motivation!

3

Watch streaks

Streak challenges are tough - miss a day and you start again. Plan these well!

4

Combine challenges

One walk can count for multiple challenges. Smart planning = more badges!

5

Use the calendar

For longer challenges: check the calendar regularly to stay on track.

6

Social challenges

Use the Events feature for group walks - that way you complete social challenges more easily!

7

Plan ahead

Timed challenges require planning. Set a reminder for that morning walk!

Badges and Medals

Each challenge type has its own unique badge:

  • Different colours and designs
  • Recognisable icons per type
  • Collect them all!

Completed challenges stay visible in your "Completed" list, so you can always look back on your achievements.

Frequently asked questions

How does WandelWeb know I am walking?

You need to start a walk in the app (with GPS tracking). These walks automatically count for challenges.

Do old walks also count?

For lifetime challenges: yes! For periodic challenges: only walks within the current period.

Can I do multiple challenges at once?

Yes! A walk can count for multiple challenges. You can have as many challenges active at once as you want.

What happens with periodic challenges?

Every new period (week/month) you get a new version of the challenge. Your progress then starts again.

Can I skip a challenge?

Challenges are optional - you do not have to do anything with them if you do not want to. They only motivate!

Do completed challenges disappear?

No, you can always see them again under "Completed". Your badge collection is kept!

How accurate is the progress?

Challenges are updated immediately after each walk. Sometimes it can take a few seconds before everything is synced.

What if I miss a streak?

With streak challenges you start again at 0 if you skip a day. Other challenge types are more forgiving!

Are new challenges added?

Yes! The system regularly adds new challenges to keep things interesting.

Can I share challenges with friends?

At the moment you only see your own progress. On other people's profile screens you can see their completed challenges!
