The best hiking routes in Lower Silesian Voivodeship

Lower Silesian Voivodeship offers a distinct choice between the rounded, granite ridges of the Karkonoski Park Narodowy and the labyrinthine sandstone formations of the Park Narodowy Gór Sto²owych. In the Karkonoski range, walkers encounter wide, exposed paths over peat bogs and granite debris, where the vegetation is stunted by high winds. In contrast, the Gór Sto²owych landscape consists of flat-topped mesas dissected by deep, narrow fissures, where the underfoot terrain shifts to sandy soil and damp passages between towering rock pillars.

To the west, the Izerski Park Ciemnego Nieba offers gentler, rolling terrain dominated by spruce forests and peat meadows. Walkers here will notice the dark, acidic water of the peat bogs and a network of gravel forestry tracks that are easier underfoot than the rocky scrambles found in the granite areas.
