The best hiking routes in Šibenik-Knin County

Šibenik-Knin County offers a sharp contrast between a dry, limestone hinterland and the lush river corridors that cut through the karst. The terrain is generally rocky and uneven, dominated by scrubby vegetation, dry stone walls, and exposed white stone underfoot. Walkers should expect sharp limestone underfoot rather than soft forest soil, with very little natural shade outside of the river canyons.

In Nacionalni park Krka, the landscape changes abruptly into a network of rushing water, travertine barriers, and dense riverine forest.
