The best hiking routes in Stobrawski Park Krajobrazowy

Stobrawski Park Krajobrazowy is a vast lowland protected area in southwestern Poland, dominated by the wide river valleys of the Stobrawa and the Oder. Walkers here will find a landscape shaped by water and sand, where dense pine forests on dry inland dunes contrast sharply with damp, broadleaved woodlands and marshy meadows closer to the watercourses. The terrain is flat, offering no hills or dramatic viewpoints, but instead providing a quiet, horizontal landscape of slow-flowing rivers, old riverbeds, and numerous managed fishponds.

Underfoot, the paths change depending on the immediate habitat. On the higher ground, you will walk on dry, sandy forest tracks that cut through pine stands, where the soil is loose and pine needles cushion your steps. As you descend toward the riverbanks and pond systems, the ground transitions to damp earth, grassy dykes, and occasionally muddy tracks where the water table is high.

In late autumn, around November, the oak and beech forests near the rivers turn deep brown and gold, and the drained fishponds attract migrating waterbirds. Stobrawski Park Krajobrazowy is not a place for challenging climbs, but rather for long, level walks through a working forestry and pond landscape where the sound of water is never far away.
