About Region of Trenčín

In contrast, Chránená krajinná oblasť Strážovské vrchy presents steeper, forested climbs through beech woods and rugged rock formations, requiring more physical effort underfoot.

Walkers seeking dense forests and damp, mossy valleys will find them in Chránená krajinná oblasť Kysuce and CHKO Beskydy along the northern borders. Here, the paths follow sandstone ridges and forestry tracks that can become muddy. Towards the south, Chránená krajinná oblasť Ponitrie and Chránená krajinná oblasť Malé Karpaty transition into warmer, oak-forested hills with gentler gradients and drier, stony paths.

This region does not have alpine peaks or deep glacial valleys. Instead, you will walk through a working landscape of managed timber forests, orchards, and sheep pastures. Well-known viewpoints near castle ruins can be busier on weekends, while the deep forest tracks in the northern reserves are often quieter.
