Czechia offers distinct walking landscapes defined by its geological borders and central highlands. In the northern border regions of Ústecký kraj and Liberecký kraj, walkers encounter dramatic sandstone towers and deep pine forests where the paths are often sandy underfoot, occasionally transitioning to wooden boardwalks over peat bogs. These areas feature steep, vertical rock formations rather than high alpine peaks, meaning walks involve short, sharp climbs up stone steps rather than long mountain ascents.

In contrast, the southern and central regions like Zuid-Bohemen and Kraj Vysočina present a gently rolling plateau. Here, the landscape is dominated by a network of historic fishponds, quiet agricultural lanes, and mixed broadleaf woodlands.
