The best hiking routes in ZPE Veiros

ZPE Veiros is a flat, open wetland and agricultural plain in the Baixo Vouga region, dominated by a network of drainage canals, salt marshes, and pastureland. Unlike the nearby forested hills, this landscape is defined by its low-lying, watery topography where land and estuary merge. Walkers will find a working rural environment where traditional bocage fields, lined with alder and willow trees, alternate with open reed beds and salt pans.

Underfoot, the terrain consists of flat, unpaved dirt tracks, grassy dykes, and occasional muddy paths along the canal banks.
