Суботичка пешчара, situated along the Serbian-Hungarian border, presents a landscape of inland sand dunes, pine plantations, and damp depressions. Walkers here will find a distinct contrast between the dry, loose sand of the elevated dunes and the damp, peaty soils of the low-lying hollows. The terrain is gently undulating, lacking any steep climbs or dramatic elevation changes, making it a place for steady, rhythmic walking rather than technical hiking.

Underfoot, the tracks alternate between soft, deep sand that requires extra effort to traverse and firmer forest paths carpeted with pine needles. The vegetation tells the story of the landscape, where planted black pines and locust trees anchor the shifting sands, while natural steppe grasslands and wet meadows occupy the lower pockets.
