Skarvan og Roltdalen nasjonalpark is a landscape of transition, where the spruce forests of the lower valleys give way to vast, open mountain plateaus. Unlike the jagged peaks found along Norway's coast, this park is defined by rounded summits, gentle ridges, and wide, marshy depressions. The terrain is divided by the Roltdalen valley, which contains remnants of old summer dairy farming, showing how the forest has been shaped by grazing and wood cutting over centuries.
