Přírodní park Horní Střela is defined by the deep, winding canyon of the Střela River, which cuts sharply through the surrounding upland plains. Unlike flatter agricultural landscapes nearby, this area is characterized by steep, rocky slopes covered in dense pine and oak forests, interspersed with dramatic slate scree fields. The terrain transitions abruptly from the level fields of the plateau down into a secluded, humid river valley where the water has carved out sharp bends and exposed dark rock formations.

Underfoot, walkers will find a mix of narrow, uneven dirt tracks that hug the riverbanks and steep, rocky paths climbing the valley sides. Exposed tree roots and loose slate fragments require careful stepping, particularly on the slopes. While the upper plains are dominated by wide, unpaved forestry tracks, the valley floor offers a more enclosed, rugged experience where the sound of rushing water is constant.

This park does not offer wide mountain vistas or high alpine peaks, but rather a quiet, enclosed woodland experience centered on the river corridor. In April and May, the deciduous trees along the water show their first bright green leaves before the canopy closes, while the pine-clad cliffs remain dark green year-round.
