About Park Krajobrazowy Puszczy Solskiej
Park Krajobrazowy Puszczy Solskiej is a lowland forest park defined by its flat, sandy terrain and extensive pine woods. Unlike the hilly regions of southern Poland, this landscape is gently rolling, where dry, sandy tracks alternate with wide, peat-filled depressions. The sandy soils are the result of glacial deposits, which you will notice as loose sand underfoot on the higher paths, making walking slow but steady.

As you walk deeper into the park, the dry pine forests give way to wet heathlands and peat bogs. In these wetter sections, the trail often transitions to wooden boardwalks to protect the fragile peat layers. The Tanew and Sopot rivers cut shallow valleys through the park, creating small, noisy waterfalls over rocky limestone ledges, locally known as szumy. These river corridors provide a damp, shaded contrast to the dry, open pine stands.
While the popular river trails near Susiec can be busy with visitors in July and August, the vast pine forests in the interior remain quiet. Walking here requires attention to the terrain, as a single path can shift from deep, dry sand to damp peat within a few hundred metres. It is a landscape of subtle transitions rather than dramatic views.
