Parco Nazionale della Val Grande is a steep, heavily forested mountain wilderness shaped by decades of human abandonment. Unlike manicured alpine valleys, this park is characterized by dense beech woods, deep rocky gorges, and ruins of old stone huts being reclaimed by vegetation. The terrain is rugged and demanding, with few gentle meadows or easy strolls.
