Цибърско блато is a low-lying wetland area located along the Danube. The landscape consists of a shallow marsh system, seasonal pools, and alluvial meadows. Unlike the dry agricultural plains surrounding it, this area is defined by its damp clay soils, dense reedbeds, and willow thickets. The terrain is flat and exposed, with no high ridges or deep valleys to offer shelter. Walking here means navigating a mix of dirt tracks, grassy dikes, and muddy paths that run close to the water level.

Underfoot, the ground is predominantly heavy clay and silt, which becomes sticky and soft near the marsh edges. There are no boardwalks or paved promenades, so walkers must rely on rough agricultural tracks and embankments. The vegetation changes visibly as you move away from the river, transitioning from dense stands of common reed and bulrush to open, seasonally flooded pastures where cattle sometimes graze. In late May, the marsh vegetation is at its most lush, while the open water areas shrink significantly by September.
