Underfoot, the terrain varies from soft forest loam and leaf litter in the valleys to rocky, limestone-strewn paths along the ridges. The main ridge trail follows a undulating crest where the soil is thin and grassy, offering clear views of the surrounding basin. In late spring, around June, these high pastures are covered in alpine wildflowers, which is a defining feature of the open limestone sections.
This park is not a place for sharp, technical rock climbing, as the summits are generally dome-shaped and accessible by walking. While the main ridge path can be busier during summer weekends, the long side valleys remain quiet, requiring long approaches through dense woodland before reaching the open crests.
