The best hiking routes in Wzgórza Strzelińskie

Wzgórza Strzelińskie offers a distinct walking landscape that differs from the higher, more rugged Sudeten ranges nearby. This area is characterized by low, gently rolling forested hills where the elevation changes are gradual rather than steep. Walkers will notice a transition from agricultural fields on the plains to dense beech and oak woodlands as they ascend the ridges. The terrain is defined by its geological history of granite quarrying, and you will frequently pass old, water-filled quarry pits and exposed stone formations directly alongside the paths.

Underfoot, the trails are a mix of wide, packed-dirt forestry tracks and narrower, stony paths littered with tree roots and granite fragments. Unlike wetter peatland reserves, this area features mostly dry forest floors, though some lower-lying clay sections can become sticky. The trail network is dense, allowing for loop walks of various lengths without the need to scramble over scree or navigate exposed ridges.
