Park Krajobrazowy Lasy Janowskie is a vast forest complex in southeastern Poland, characterized by its flat, sandy basin floor and extensive pine woodlands. Walkers will find a landscape shaped by water and poor soils, where dry, open pine forests on inland dunes quickly give way to dark, waterlogged peat bogs and marshy depressions. The terrain does not offer dramatic elevation changes or sweeping vistas, but rather a quiet, enclosed woodland experience where the subtle shifts in vegetation reveal the underlying hydrology.

Underfoot, the trails vary between loose, deep sand on the higher ridges and damp, peaty soil in the lower basins. Wooden boardwalks are present in some of the wettest sections to help cross the marshy ground, while wide forestry tracks and sandy paths make up the bulk of the walking network. The presence of large, artificial fishponds, particularly around the central parts of the park, introduces wide openings in the canopy where water birds congregate.
